Meet McFarlane Aviation

About Us 12

More than 50 Years Serving the Aviation Community

In 1971, Dave McFarlane created McFarlane Aviation to provide aircraft repair and restoration part-time, while concentrating on agricultural aviation activities in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Iowa. In 1979, Dave bought the Vinland Valley Aerodrome (K64) and moved McFarlane Aviation to its current location. Fred McClenahan joined Dave and his wife Phylis in Kansas to provide aircraft repair, restoration, rental, flight instruction, and agricultural aviation services. Fred plays a key role today in developing and testing the McFarlane product lines.

In 1986, the company continued to prosper and grow, officially incorporating as McFarlane Aviation, Inc. As the years passed, it became apparent to Dave and Fred that there was room for improvement in many of the aircraft parts they were installing. In 1989, the company started in a new direction. New materials and improved designs were developed and tested for the Cessna seat rollers and washers. Aircraft owners accepted them as being far superior to the OEM parts, while costing much less. Sales of these first products grew rapidly and customers requested more products. New replacement parts were developed and approved by the FAA while manufacturing equipment, talented people, and quality control systems were added and improved. Since 1993, McFarlane has focused only on the development, testing, manufacturing, and distribution of quality FAA-PMA products.

In 1997, an additional 7,000 sq. ft of office and manufacturing space was constructed with another 6,000 sq. ft added in the early 2000s. In 2012, our facility was doubled in size by adding 24,000 sq. ft of production and warehouse space. Again in 2020, we added another 24,000 sq. ft, bringing our facility to four buildings with more than 100,000 sq. ft. We currently have another 22,000 sq. ft of space in the works, which will bring our facility to five buildings.

Today, McFarlane holds design approval and FAA-PMA for over 2,700 different replacement parts for several different makes of aircraft. McFarlane distributors are serving major aviation centers around the world. Past experience and constant input from knowledgeable customers have given McFarlane engineers vast knowledge of aircraft service demands that are the foundation of improved products. The pioneering spirit continues to live in Vinland, Kansas and we will continue to develop innovative solutions for aircraft service problems.

A Letter from our Founder

McFarlane Valued Customers,

While I reflect on the once future years that have now become the present and past, I am reminded of the many contributions that have been made to this company by our employees and the aviation community.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of the aircraft owners, commercial operators, repair facilities, FBOs and parts distributors that have supported us over the years. Thank you! You are the reason we can continue to develop improved aircraft parts.

Our common goal of reasonably priced replacement parts that work better, safer and last longer is shared by all of us. Without your support we could not survive the tedious and expensive process of product development, testing and FAA certification. Many of you have shared with us your knowledge and insight for new products and improvements that comes from your years of experience in repairing and operating aircraft. Your help has not been forgotten.

I would also like to thank the FAA personnel that have worked with us. Many of them have gone the extra mile in supporting our goals. With the help of all of you, McFarlane Aviation Products has become a leader in light aircraft replacement parts innovation.

I hope we can repay you by providing you with products and service that meet your expectations. I have not forgotten that this company is also your creation.

Best Regards,

Dave McFarlane

Why Buy Parts from McFarlane?

At McFarlane Aviation Products, 100% of our effort is focused on replacement parts. This focus allows McFarlane to produce higher quality parts with many enhancements, all at a lower price than the factory. Each new product we develop is analyzed by looking at decades of service history and maintenance problems. We consider improvements that could not be foreseen when the parts were originally designed. Many times new manufacturing technology or high-tech materials that were not available when the parts were first designed allow us to improve products while at the same time reduce the cost. This translates into a better product for less money.
