Vernier-Assist Propeller Controls
McFarlane invents a new type of vernier engine control
This new type of control has all the fine adjustment benefits of an old style push-button release vernier control, with the simplicity, responsiveness and jam-proof safety of a friction lock control.

These light weight controls use a patented roller action and do not use a positive lock thread engagement. Coarse adjustments are made by pushing the knob inwards or pulling the knob outwards. Fine adjustments are made by rotating the knob clockwise or counterclockwise. For extreme conduit routing or heavy carburetor load installation, slight inward or outward assist pressure could be required during rotation.

We currently offer these controls for use on non-certified aircraft only. However, we plan to obtain FAA-PMA approval to offer the Vernier-Assist mechanism as an option on many of our currently approved controls for Cessna and Piper.

MCVA Series Controls:
Although not specifically a prop control, the MCVA series controls can be used with 6730 Knob as a prop control for non-certified aircraft. Available in a variety of standard lengths or custom fabricated to your unique requirements.

Installation Instructions:

Control with 0.061" diameter solid wire end:
Order part number MCVA0241-03-LLL (LLL = length in inches)

  • Knob is not included. Requires a knob with 1/4-20 thread.
  • Available in 4, 6, 10 foot lengths
  • May be trimmed to length
  • Requires a 3/8" panel hole
  • Ideal for aircraft with tight space constraints! Extends ~3.5 inches behind the dash.

Control with 10-32 threaded end:
Order part number MCVA1035-20-LLL (LLL = length in inches)

  • Knob is not included. Requires a knob with 1/4-20 thread.
  • Available in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 foot lengths
  • Vernier and friction lock
  • Requires a 3/4" panel hole

Control with 1/4-28 threaded end:
