AeroForce New Turbocharger Assemblies

Applications for nearly any size and performance requirement, spanning the engine range from the Rotax 914 to the largest big bore Continentals and Lycomings used in pressurized aircraft. Produced on advanced CNC equipment, inspected using precision coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and accurately balanced using high-speed balancing equipment (capable of balancing to speeds in excess of 100,000 rpm).

We also offer factory rebuilt assemblies, or you can send your current assembly into AeroForce for overhaul services! Give our team a call to begin the process.

AeroForce turbocharges, pressure relief valves, wastegates, and controllers are the best choice for new and rebuilt turbocharging systems. By utilizing exhaust gases to drive a turbine, AeroForce turbochargers compress incoming air, increasing oxygen concentration for improved engine combustion. This process maintains engine power at altitude, making them indispensable for pilots seeking consistent performance across various flight conditions.

Turbocharger Features:

  • Turbine and compressor wheels, mounted on common shaft, rotate at the same speed
  • Wheel shaft supported by floating bearings in cast iron center housing
  • Pressurized lubricating oil, from engine lube system, delivered to shaft bearings through drilled passages in center housing
  • Lubricating oil collected in center housing drains by gravity or is scavenged back to the engine crankcase
  • Flow of gas directed to and from wheels by specially designed housings attached to the center housing

No scheduled maintenance period of turbochargers is required.

Turbocharger assemblies include:

  • Turbine housing
  • Turbine wheel
  • Center housing
  • Full floating shaft bearing
  • Thrust bearing
  • Thrust collar
  • Back plate
  • Compressor housing
  • Compressor wheel
  • Pressure relief valve
  • Sonic venturi
  • Variable controller
  • Exhaust bypass valve

AeroForce Factory Rebuilt Turbochargers

Applications for nearly any size and performance requirement, spanning the engine range from the Rotax 914 to the largest big bore Continentals and Lycomings used in pressurized aircraft. Produced on advanced CNC equipment, inspected using precision coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and accurately balanced using high-speed balancing equipment (capable of balancing to speeds in excess of 100,000 rpm).

We also offer factory new assemblies.

AeroForce turbocharges, pressure relief valves, wastegates, and controllers is the best choice for new and rebuilt turbocharging systems. By utilizing exhaust gases to drive a turbine, AeroForce turbochargers compress incoming air, increasing oxygen concentration for improved engine combustion. This process maintains engine power at altitude, making them indispensable for pilots seeking consistent performance across various flight conditions.

Factory rebuilt turbochargers are thoroughly inspected and tested. Several new critical replacement components are installed on all rebuilt assemblies, including stressed turbine wheel assemblies, bolts, lock plates and nuts, piston rings, thrust bearings, seal rings, retaining nuts, and more.

All turbo-system components (turbocharger, wastegate, controller, and pressure relief valves) are overhauled in accordance with Hartzell Engine Technologies Recommended Service Facility (RSF) requirements:

  • All components are overhauled in accordance with the most recent component maintenance manual revision
  • Only original Hartzell Engine Technology manufactured components are utilized during the overhaul process

Includes 100% replacement of the turbine wheel and center housing.

Maintenance tip:

AeroForce routinely reminds pilots that a thorough pre-flight is the time to look for turbocharger replacement clues. Keep in mind that some of the warning signs are very subtle and easy to miss. Take your time. If you see something you’re not used to seeing, you need to have your mechanic take a look.

Common indications AeroForce suggests of turbocharger failure:

  • A slight oil leak
  • Oil collecting at the exhaust outlet
  • Excessive oil consumption
  • Slight blue smoke from the exhaust

Another highly effective practice is for owner/operators to be very proactive in their maintenance. Since the turbocharger shares the oil system with the engine, you should routinely change the oil at 25- or 35-hours. And like other parts of the engine, the condition of the oil can provide an indication of the health of the turbocharger.

During the oil change, the owner or mechanic should take the opportunity to give the entire turbocharger system a good inspection. Keep the air filter clean and check the security of the intake and alternate air systems to prevent FOD (foreign object debris) from entering the compressor or from robbing the compressor of air. Also, take time to visually inspect all clamps, hoses, ducts and related components of the intake/exhaust system.
